In January 2020, Stacy launched Friday Things, an independent media brand for progressive millennials and Gen Zers. She believes that the shows and movies we watch, songs that go viral, authors we idolize, internet memes that take hold despite language or geographic borders and celebrities we follow, both literally and figuratively, all say something important about the world we live in, the beliefs we hold and what we value, or don’t. So, Friday Things uses pop culture as a lens to explore power, identity and oppression—and takes these cultural artifacts seriously on their own merits.

In addition to a weekly newsletter that delves into trending pop culture stories (or at least, the ones she can’t stop thinking about), Stacy has produced three seasons of Friday Talks, a video series that explores various aspects of the immigrant experience. The most recent season features journalist and media personality Nam Kiwanuka, the Honourable Rechie Valdez, MP for Mississauga—Streetsville and Minister of Women and Gender Equality, and political firebrand Chloe Brown, among others.

If this sounds like something you’d be into, sign up for the weekly newsletter to get smart analysis about the week’s biggest pop culture stories. For more Friday, follow the brand on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. And definitely drop Stacy a line to share tips, rants and pop culture thoughts.
